Beware the 5th/21st of March in the T dot .. Fordist Revolution on trial

Things have finally come to a head in the great question of the fate of the Ford Brothers Revolution in Toronto municipal politics. The Rob and Doug Show has at last galvanized a perhaps reasonably well organized City Council Opposition. The chosen field of bloody combat is public transit (policy and programs) in the megacity Mike Harris gave us. And immediately ahead are two big battles, ie council votes – one very soon on Monday, March 5, and one still a few weeks away, on Wednesday, March 21.

CLICK ON our Streetcar Name Rob Ford for at least a bit more on this sort-of locally explosive story. And unless you hate Toronto too passionately, no matter who the Mayor is or whatever his OR HER policies are, stay tuned!

MARCH 5 UPDATE: You can follow the Toronto City Council debate on the March 5 battle over the future of the Toronto Transit Commission HERE, compliments of the Globe and Mail. We’ll have a little more to say when the results are in.  UPDATE MARCH 5, 8 PM: Council has voted 29—15 to reform the transit commission, on a model proposed by Karen Stintz. Ms. Stintz has also been returned as chair of the new commission. See “TTC: Ford loyalists booted; Stintz stays as chair in expanded board” and “James: Mayor Rob Ford whiffs, swinging for subway fences.”
